A Healthy Start

On Monday, I began the long trek to running 1000 miles this year. And, what a start it was. Preston and I decided to run 3 miles together. The weather has been pretty nice in the area, so it gave us a good outlook to begin. The one thing I forgot to mention was the all-out gorge we took on the World Buffet in Lansing a few hours before our run.
Now, I'm not usually good about eating before running. I've had a history of "tossing my cookies" when I've eaten before a run. So, needless to say, this running adventure was going to be interesting. We started out at a moderate pace, and all was well with our run. We were conversing, and having a good time. But, after about half a mile, things got exciting. I could feel the ole stomach churning after every step that I took. The pace we had set for ourselves at the beginning of our run had slowed to a crawl. This crawl kept it's pace for the rest of the run. Just over nine minute miles. A tough pace for such a nice day. I've never felt so bad on a run in my life.
Regardless of how I felt, I never "lost my lunch" and at least I know now that it can't possibly get any worse. So, here's looking to the future of running this year. Hope to see you out on the roads. I'm out.

In my prime I could have beat you. And by prime I mean about a 24 minute 3 mile run. I'm going to go ahead and congratulate Old Me.
Slow and steady wins the race. Also, no matter what your time, at least your out there being active. I haven't gone for a run in years.
I have never "tossed my cookies" before with working out...that sounds aweful. I can't wait to learn to run again...nine min miles is sounding pretty good to me.
