Week 6
The final week takes a huge step forward in the amount of pushups done. I could only get about halfway through the routine before I had to call it quits last night. So, I’m going to go back a week. I still plan on checking my max to see if I can do 100 at the end of this week. It’s going to be close.

you must be a big bag of muscle by now, why back in 1963 when working for the state in Ionia Hosp. I pressed 100 lbs with my right arm from the floor to my shoulder and then strait up, made a good impression with all the nuts that were in the gym at the time. love you all paw

I did 10 push-ups one time, ten years ago. If you do 100, that's like...12 times as many as I did.

Hey, are you doing the push-ups every night? If so, that is perhaps the problem. When you do strenuous exercise, you're destroying some muscle tissue (microtrauma). It grows back thicker and stronger and with more concentrated nuclei, and that is good. But the process takes time. It's a good idea to vary your routine, maybe do push-ups one night, then do a sit-up based routine the next. In swimming, they do something called tapering a week before a big meet. They plan a week of light intensity workouts, which lets the muscles complete the microtrauma process. That is why records are often broken at the big meets, and less often during the regular season.
PS. I usually don't link to wiki, but the info is pretty much what I've been taught through the years.

To SonicFrog
I think I experienced that phenomenom. I have been trying to build up from walking to running (yet again!). But I was finding that my legs were actually weaker as time progressed. I started alternating biking and running. Now it is easier to run and I feel that I am again making progress.

I do my pushups Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If I try doing anything pushup-like on an in between day, I can definitely feel the pain.

Two things on this weeks agenda... are you doing 100 per week or night? Secondly when are we going to get another tee-time set up?

I had two things on this weeks agenda.. now there are three. First, how many of these do you do a night 100? If so .. you are my superman. Secondly, when are we going to get another cyber tee-time? Lastly, how come I can't seem to post on the first attempt? (My first attempt only had two items on the agenda)

1. I do a set number according to this schedule, while working my way up to 100.
2. How about Wednesday Night?
3. I don't know. Sometimes, my page is just being an ass.

Thanks for the link. We've been going to the gym or playing tennis every morning... well, pretty close to every morning. I will have to add this to my routine.
