When I grow up

Nobody says I want to spend an evening creating a spreadsheet to track my budget when I grow up. But that's what I did last night. I tried using Quicken, but it did too much and I couldn't easily get around all the junk I didn't want to use. So I spent most of yesterday evening creating a spreadsheet in excel to track my spending. As lame as it may sound, I'm really excited about it. I simply input my expenses according to category and day and then excel works its magic. It tracks how much money I've spent for each category and how much I have left or what my deficit is. Then it shows the week’s total amount spent, saved and lost. I get paid every two weeks so I made it large enough for two weeks worth of info. At the end of a pay period it gives me some the spent, saved and earned figures for both weeks combined. Then I save it one last time as a read only file and print out a single piece of 8.5x11 paper with all the information on it for my files. I wish I could spend more money just so I could record it in my spreadsheet. How cool/nerdy is that?
