Nerds and frat boys are
Greek pledging officially begins in a few days and right now there are fraternity and sorority signs all around campus. Somebody thought up the slogan; Be You, Be Greek, and wrote it everywhere. Let me break this down for a second. The phrase; Be You, is short for be yourself or be an individual. The phrase; Be Greek, means join our frat. It means become one of us, dress like us, talk like us, do what we do and walk how we walk. In my humble opinion Be Greek is the antithesis of Be You. Now I don't hate all frats but the sorry fact is that I can count the number of people who have been or are in frats/sororities that I can tolerate being around on one hand. I recently spent the evening at a bar with three sorority girls and let me say that they all fit the bill for your average sorority dumb blond. It’s like my writing teacher used to say, “Stereotypes are bad and should never be used, but let’s face it, often times, they are true.”
