We just got internet access at the house tonight! I'm so happy and sick. I think I have the flu or something. But at least I have the internet.
For anybody who doesn't know, Bob is moving to Connecticut. Because of this we went out one last time Friday night and, as customary for us, ended up having a strange adventure. The night was going smoothly enough until our ride home decided it was time to pick up "creepy guy" and "annoying guy" then go out for a burger. The high point of the night was when "Creepy guy" started shouting obscenities at the top of his lungs for no apparent reason while we were in the car. I say this was the high point because it took place right before he put his arm around me started singing. Listen here guys, don't be creepy. It's just not cool.
Let me try to explain the night I first spent in Kalamazoo. My new roommates took me out to the bars with them and I figured since they both took house keys I wouldn't need to. So we went to The Wayside and were having a good time, then I found Johnny D. That’s where things started to go wrong. I talked with Johnny D just long enough to completely loose my new roommates. Not being one to panic I calmly walked around the bar looking for them until I ran into Bob and Andy. From there it was a tequila fest until I ran into Justin (New Roommate #1) and told him I had my own ride home but didn't have a key. "No problem," he says, "I'm not staying at home tonight but I'll unlock the door for you" he assures me. So then I leave with Bob, Andy, Johnny D, and several other strangers. Despite my pleading that I needed to get home before I was locked out everyone else decided I was better off sitting with them on the front steps at somebody’s apartment. Long story short, I was locked out and didn't get inside until about 2 o'clock the next afternoon. I did however get the chance to order “Al l the tacos I can get for 10 dollars.” There's something about Bob that always leads to an adventure. I'm gonna miss that sorry son of a bitch when he moves.
I'll buy the first couple of rounds Saturday night for anybody who helps me move to Kalamazoo Saturday afternoon.
A few minutes ago I said goodbye to The Cup and hung up the phone. Tomorrow he boards a plane with his wife and makes his way to an Air Force base in Japan, where he will be spending his next three years. There was definitely a fair amount of awkward tension on the phone. How does one say goodbye to a friend who's drifting away. I love The Cup like a brother and am proud of the life he's making for himself, but in all likely hood his new life and my own will carry us farther and farther apart. How does one say goodbye to such a friendship? Tonight I will have two shots of expensive tequila one for myself and one for him. Eric, God bless your budding family on this wonderful adventure. Vaya Con Dios, my friend.
This is my last Friday at Print Makers, four more work days and I'm done. Do I feel sad? Not really, it's been a nice 5 years here but it's time to move on to bigger and better things.
If I had the money I would buy all of these. If I had even more money I would commission an entire deck then have them mass produced. And if I had even more money I would give them away or at least give one away... to the president himself.
I played a big game of poker this weekend and lost two dollars. By big I mean it was a $25 buy in and you couldn't leave the table until you lost it all or won it all. Fortunately for me we got tired and quit so I only lost 2 dollars. But here's how things went. I immediately lost everything but four bucks then spent the rest of the evening playing smart and waiting for the perfect hand. I was eventually able to get my money back and then some. In the last couple of minutes I went back down a couple bucks but I'm happy with that. Some people lost a lot more than I did.
I could get used to this training the new employees gig. Everything that is my responsibility to take care of gets passed on to the new girls. So if I'm supposed to make an order I have the girls make an order, if I'm supposed to enter bills I make the girls enter bills, if I'm supposed to clean the bathroom I make the girls clean the bathroom ant the best part of all of this is I get paid more to do it.
